Mr. Singai Govind Raju, former Member of the Legislative Assembly from the Singanallur constituency in Coimbatore district, is the father of Singai Ramachandran. When Ramachandran was 11 years old, his father passed away, and he grew up under his mother's care. After completing his schooling, he pursued engineering at PSG College in Coimbatore. Due to family circumstances, he later took up a job, but one thought kept recurring in his mind: "I must continue the public service work my father left behind." His aspiration was to meet former Chief Minister Selvi J. Jayalalithaa and work alongside the party. Eventually, his dream became a reality. While pursuing an MBA at IIM Ahmedabad for higher studies, lucrative job offers with salaries in lakhs and crores came his way. However, he rejected them all, declaring, "I want to serve the people and join Anna DMK." When this statement was published in the newspapers, Jayalalithaa herself summoned him in March 2016 and appointed him as the party's IT Secretary. His first campaign strategy during the Thanjavur by-election received widespread appreciation. He also operates a free e-service center for the public in Coimbatore district, which has been well-received. After Jayalalithaa's demise, when Mr. Edappadi K. Palaniswami became the General Secretary, Ramachandran was given the opportunity to contest as a Member of Parliament from the Coimbatore constituency in 2024. He campaigned against the BJP's Annamalai, and though the AIADMK faced defeat, his political speeches and dedication to the party earned him the position of AIADMK's Student Wing Secretary in late 2024. This appointment was made to strengthen the party among the youth and secure its future interests. Whether AIADMK will return to power in 2026 and successfully mobilize the youth vote remains to be seen!
