Welcome to Nallur Kandaswamy Temple, Jaffna

The Nallur Kandaswamy Temple in Jaffna, Sri Lanka, is one of the most significant and revered Hindu temples on the island. Dedicated to Lord Murugan (also known as Skanda or Kandaswamy), this temple is a symbol of spirituality, culture, and Tamil heritage.

Originally built in the 10th century and reconstructed several times throughout history, the temple today stands as a grand landmark attracting thousands of devotees and visitors each year. Its golden gopuram (tower), vibrant rituals, and the world-famous annual Nallur Festival make it a unique destination for both spiritual seekers and cultural travelers.

Inside the temple, visitors can experience traditional Hindu ceremonies, devotional music, and the serene atmosphere of one of the most important centers of Tamil worship in Sri Lanka. The temple not only serves as a place of prayer but also as a gathering point for cultural expression and community unity.
